The US Roofing Story
From humble beginnings to the premier commercial roofer in the Northeast
United States Roofing Corporation has been providing first-class roofing and sheet metal services throughout the Delaware Valley since Ken Farragut founded it in 1962.
- 1962
Our Founder
Ken Farragut grew up in a three-room shack owned by the Mississippi paper mill where his father worked. A high school coach offered him a pair of shoes to try out for football; Ken went on to captain the 1950 Ole Miss Rebels, earn a Masters degree and become an All-Pro center for the Philadelphia Eagles. In the off-season he sold roofing and siding door to door, and he loved it so much that he built a company from the ground up.
- 1962–1997
Rapid Growth
While leading our growth and raising three children with his wife, Jane, Ken co-founded and served as president of the NFL Alumni Association, raising money for underprivileged children. Under Ken, the company grew every consecutive year. He was elected to the Ole Miss Hall of Fame in 1988, received the NFL Alumni Career Achievement Award in 1992, and before retiring in 1997 was honored with the Philadelphia Roofing Contractors Association's Lifetime Achievement Award.
- 1971
The Next Generation
After countless summers on the roof, Ken's son David graduated from the University of Mississippi and joined the company in 1971. David embraced new roofing technologies and grew U.S. Roofing into the largest roofing and sheet metal contractor in the Delaware Valley, becoming a pillar of the national roofing market.
- 2013
Through to Today
Ryan Farragut, the third generation to graduate from the University of Mississippi, learned the business from the front lines and has served as crew member, estimator, project manager and vice president of operations. In the spring of 2013 David became chairman/CEO and Ryan was appointed our third president. Today, David and the third generation of the Farragut family continue our ongoing success.
